FRÉ writes songs about courage and connection — for a generation fighting for equality and a living future.
FRÉ grew up on a small farm in the east of the Netherlands, and music has always been how she makes sense of the world. Her songs live at the edge of pop, and have been played on the BBC, NPO Radio 1, 3FM and Radio 5, with live performances across the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, the UK, the USA and Finland.
For ten years she has written songs for a living future, from her debut album Nature's Songs through We Rise When We Lift Each Other Up to Gemini. She recorded an album with Syrian pianist Aeham Ahmad, and wrote commissioned songs for the Earth Charter, Our Future On Earth and Peacewalk. She works to minimise the footprint of everything she makes, from biodegradable album design to vinyl pressed from recycled PET.
She co-founded and leads Music Declares Emergency NL, and speaks internationally on music, art and the climate crisis — at ADE Green, Eurosonic Noorderslag, MusicXMedia in Finland, the European Jazz Conference, and conservatoires including the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.
"One of those songs that you want to remember — very special and captivating from start to finish."
— Frits Spits, NPO Radio 1 (about Tot de Nacht)"Pleasantly surprised by FRÉ at her release concert — it was just REALLY good!"

Beyond my own music, I work with people in a few ways — in the studio, on stage, in the lesson room, and on the mat.
A speech & a song. FRÉ speaks — and sings — about hope, music and the climate crisis. The signature is the combination: a personal talk that lands, followed by a live song that makes it unforgettable. Few speakers can sing it. Few musicians can speak it. FRÉ does both. For Earth Charter's 25th anniversary she wrote a five-minute speech and then played a song; it landed deeply. She speaks, hosts and performs at festivals, conservatoires, conferences and organisations.
"FRÉ presents a gripping personal narrative — deeply inspiring the student community with new knowledge and awareness."
— Guy Wood, Royal Conservatoire The Hague"Her personal story brought the complex issue of biodiversity loss closer to home — with a smile and a tear."
— Cor NolteeProducing. I produce story-first. I care about the emotional and conceptual heart of a project — building trust, shaping sound, and guiding artists toward their most honest self-expression. Less time behind the knobs, more a creative partner.
Songwriting. I'm an intuitive, collaborative co-writer who believes the best songs start with honest conversation, deep listening and a touch of magic. Folk, R&B, dance, experimental pop — in the studio, on writing retreats, or online.
Vocals. A voice that moves between power and vulnerability, across genres — vocals, harmonies and lyrics from my home studio.

Mindful Singing. I teach singing and songwriting from the inside out — helping artists find their voice, technically, emotionally and artistically. Whether you're a beginner or a professional, I bring a warm, grounded approach: technique, expressive delivery, emotional connection and musical identity. One-on-one sessions (online and in person), workshops, and ongoing mentorship for developing artists.
Pilates. I'm a certified mat and reformer Pilates instructor, teaching weekly classes at Cityfit Doetinchem as well as private sessions. I love combining movement with music, and I'm happy to bring Pilates into your workshop or retreat — for example a Pilates and songwriting or singing retreat, or a multi-day training.
Letters from my world: new songs, shows, and the stories behind them.
